West Midlands landlords must register by 14 March 2027
If you let a property in the West Midlands, its registration window on the government's new landlord register opens on 15 December 2026 and closes on 14 March 2027. That covers Birmingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton, Stoke-on-Trent, Worcester, Hereford, Telford.
LandlordsReady is an independent service, not part of the government. You register on GOV.UK yourself; the only official charge is £65 per property per year.
This region is first in England's rollout. You can register any property early from 15 December 2026, and the fee is pro-rated so you don't pay extra.
Count the days left and estimate your fee →What happens if you miss the deadline
Once the deadline passes, councils in the West Midlands can start enforcement. Fines for not registering can reach £7,000, and giving false or misleading information can cost up to £40,000. An unregistered landlord also loses access to key grounds for possession, and adverts must show your registration numbers.
